East Idaho Credit Union Receives National Award for Community Service

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho, March 27, 2019 – East Idaho Credit Union is the recipient of a national award for community service.

The Credit Union National Association awarded the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award to Frontier for making an impact through community service.

East Idaho Credit Union was chosen among hundreds of nominees nationwide and recognized for their Kicks for Kids charitable program. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas each year, Frontier places empty water jugs in area schools, asking children to bring their spare change from home. The collected funds are then used to purchase shoes for underprivileged children in the region.

“This program has provided needed shoes to local kids for more than 20 years. To be recognized on a national level for making a difference right here in Idaho means a lot to us,” said Frontier President and CEO Dan Thurman. “Our program continues to grow as we continue to make a positive impact for more people.”

Leaders from East Idaho were in Washington, D.C. March 13 to receive the Dora Maxwell Award from the Credit Union National Association during their annual conference.

“Congratulations to the CUNA Award winners who provide exceptional member service and exude the credit union philosophy to help better people’s lives. We are proud to honor the recipients for their commitment to their communities,” said CUNA President and CEO Jim Nussle.

Since November, East Idaho’s Kicks for Kids has provided more than 200 shoes to area kids in need.

“It’s amazing to empower these kids to impact the lives of their classmates with just a little spare change,” said Bailey Foster, Frontier’s community relations coordinator. “For some kids, it’s the first new pair of shoes they’ve ever had so it’s heart-warming to know we can make a difference.”

With the continued demand East Idaho Credit Union will be hosting a fundraiser Kicks for Kids Golf Tournament June 24 at the Idaho Falls Country Club. The team scramble format will include prize drawings, an auction and lunch with all funds benefiting Kicks for Kids and used  to purchase shoes.
